Edelmark’s new research shows that digestates from Norwegian biogas facilities can be transformed into a premium liquid organic fertilizer that matches the performance of traditional mineral fertilizers. Through vermicomposting, digestates from HRA, Mjøsanlegget and Cermaq were transformed into clean, stable and nutrient‑rich fertilizer products. Trials conducted in the growing chambers of NMBU and INN demonstrate that some of the organic fertilizers promoted strong plant growth, deep green foliage and robust root systems. Especially the organic fertilizers produced from fish‑sludge digestates showed the potential to fully replace mineral fertilizers.
